On the sidelines of the African Union Summit, H.E AASC President signs with the African sports partners for organizing the African Games Ghana 2023.
In Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, at the African Union Headquarters, upon the invitation and the presence of H.E the President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo, and H.E AU Chairperson Mousa Faki, AASC President Major General Ahmed Nasser signed the negotiated agreement on the organization and management of the African Games, Ghana, with Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports of Ghana, Hon. ANOCA President Berraf, Hon. AU Commissioner for Health, Humanitarian Affairs, and Social Development Minata.
The signing ceremony came after a series of negotiations in which the impasses surrounding the organization of the African Games were finally resolved under the directions of H.E. The President of Ghana and H.E AU Chairperson, in which the roles and functions of the Association of African Sports Confederations were preserved, being entrusted with the sport’s technical aspects of the Games.
The organization for the African Games took off immediately after the signature of the agreement, in which the final dates on the Games organization shall be determined and confirmed by the stakeholders within a maximum period of two weeks, after the stakeholder’s visit to Ghana to check on the existing capabilities and facilities to ensure the successful organization of the Games, despite the time challenges.
The word of H.E AASC President featured deep appreciation and respect to all the AASC Member Confederations, for their vital and active role which contributed to resolving the impasses surrounding the African Games 2023, in which the decision of the AASC General Assembly of ensuring the preservation of AASC’s rights to participate in the Games was implemented.
